Chamber Congratulates Councils on VIC Initiative

The Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce has pledged its support to an exciting visitor information services initiative which was recently endorsed by two local, municipal governments - the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and the Town of Bridgewater.

On behalf of the board of directors and members of the Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce, president Craig Collins offered on April 30 sincere congratulations to the councils and staff members of the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and the Town of Bridgewater on their joint commitment to establish a temporary Visitor Information Centre for the area.

The venture, the latest example in cross-municipal co-operation, was unveiled earlier in April when each council voted to pre-approve funding in the amount of $15,000 (2010) and $10,500 (2011) for the establishment of a temporary Visitor Information Centre in Cookville at Exit 12, just off of Highway 103.

For its part, the Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to lend its expertise to the project, and to tourism in our area, through the development of an on-line events calendar that will be available for local organizations, businesses and governments to provide information to residents and visitors about upcoming events.

In addition, the Chamber welcomes the opportunity to continue its evolving role to provide services to visitors to our area through its participation in the Joint Visitor Information Services Committee, alongside its partners from Bridgewater and the Municipality of Lunenburg.
