Recipients Reap Rewards from Business Excellence Awards

Lunenburg Queens – May 25, 2010– With just a few days left for nominations to come in for the Lunenburg Queens Business Excellence Awards, previous nominees and winners are continuing to reap the rewards from their recognition.

Last year, even before any winners were declared, all the nominees enjoyed their "moment of fame" compliments of CKBW which featured each and every business several times leading up to the awards presentation.

Carl Hall, of Guppy’s Place Family Restaurant, remarked that going on to win in the Hospitality category in 2009 made his customers “sit up and take notice”.

“It proved to our workforce that their efforts are recognized,” commented Karen Sloane of J & H Industries, winner of the 2009 Small Business Award. “Externally, the promotion that came with the award brought new customers through the door and reinforced the loyalty of others.”

“The publicity around it gave Lunenburg County people a glimpse of the international side of our business, and it gave us a real boost of energy to keep our business growing,” said Evelyn Ernst of Terre Beata Farms.

Lynn Henningar of Lighthouse Publishing Ltd., winner in the Large Business category, said the Lighthouse team always strives to make a difference in the communities they serve. “To have those efforts recognized by our peers is truly gratifying.”

The deadline for submitting nominations is May 28, 2010. A new website now provides up to date information about the awards www.lqbusinessawards.ca and the facility to easily nominate businesses - even one’s own - online. Paper nomination forms can be obtained from local chambers of commerce or boards of trade.

This year’s awards presentation ceremony and dinner will be held at Oak Island Resort on Monday, October 4, 2010.
