2. Dave's Vacuum is now offering a line of compostable coffee cups with recyclable lids for their customers in the food industry.

Did You See the Pink Truck?

In early July you may have seen this truck in your yard delivering propane.
"It's a good awareness campaign," said local account manager Brent Reid from the Superior Propane office off Highway 3. Some sales and management people within the company have been touched by cancer, he said.
Superior Propane said a portion of revenue from deliveries will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer foundation. Customers will receive a notice advising them that the propane they received is helping to create a future without breast cancer.
The first new-look truck was introduced in Ontario months ago. The second brand-new truck was put on the road for stops in Atlantic Canada. Mr. Reid believes it took about a week to get the pink and white paint job completed.
Superior Propane plans to expand the awareness program nationwide.
Mr. Reid said the vehicle is available to be displayed at festivals, tradeshows and other community events , if organizers would like to have it.
Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta , Superior Propane is the nation's largest and only national provider of propane and related services. They have over 200,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in over 180 communities.

Year of Positive Change at South Shore Public Libraries
“Your Library. Your Success.” is an appropriate theme for South Shore Public Libraries, as it tallies a growing list of successful ventures this year. Library Staff and Board have embraced change recently, welcoming Chief Librarian Troy Myers to the fold, adding a new mobile library and opening a satellite branch in Greenfield.
Myers joined SSPL in July. A librarian since 1993, Myers has extensive experience with public and university libraries in Canada and abroad, having worked for the World University Service of Canada (WUSC), the Government of Malawi and Halifax Public Libraries. He has extensive community development experience and has successfully managed library building and renovation projects. Myers will draw on this experience as plans to relocate the Bridgewater Library and Library Administration to the Lunenburg County Lifestyles Centre continue, with an anticipated opening of 2012.
A new Mobile Library replaced an aging model in April 2010. The Mobile Library travels to 20 communities each week and is very popular with borrowers in rural Lunenburg and Queens Counties. SSPL Board opened the Alean Freeman Library in Greenfield, also in April.
Fall programs are in full swing. Kids can enjoy storytime, special movies and Book Buzz, a kid friendly book club. Adults may enjoy author readings by Vernon Oickle and Terry Punch, Small Communities-Big Ideas (a discussion series called Making It Work: Community Solutions for a Local Economy), computer tutor services or an International and Domestic Film Series. For seniors there are basic computer and digital camera courses.
Adopt-A-Book, the Library’s annual fundraising campaign, begins October 25th. Adopt-A-Book is an opportunity to give a gift to book lovers in your community and beyond. Make your donation online or drop into your local library to see the selection.
